Verona, the largest city in the region after Venice, is a vibrant center and one of the most beautiful in northern Italy. Its ancient center, crossed by the Adige River, boasts many magnificent Roman ruins as the famous Arena, in the heart of the city, the impressive Roman amphitheater constructed in about the 1st century AD. The elliptical construction with a central open space was used for battles between gladiators and ferocious beasts. But the city is also enriched by fine medieval palazzi built of rosso di Verona (red of Verona), the local limestone, by the city’s medieval rules: in 1263 the Scaligeri family began their 124-year rule of Verona when fell to the Visconti of Milan.

As the place where the Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet plot is unfolded, Verona is the city of lovers.

Verona is also Italy's first province for DOC wines and host to VinItaly, the country's major wine fair. The leading wines are Soave, Bardolino, Valpolicella, Amarone. Other vineyards propagate in Merlot and Cabernet, and white Pinots and Chardonnay.

You will have a walk along its narrow streets and will see the most important outdoor highlights as the Arena di Verona, the Erbe Square, Piazza Bra, Piazza dei Signori, the Duomo, the San Zeno church. You will reach the Giulietta Balcony for a romantic picture and a stroll in the enchanting backstreets.
