If you need a transfer from Florence to Naples or to the Amalfi coast why don’t you use your day travel to visit Orvieto.
Perfectly situated right off the main highway, Orvieto looms in the distance from the road.
The hilltop citadel rests upon excavations of the earlier Etruscan inhabitants from the 7th century BC. Once in center of the city, visitors can tour Orvieto's Duomo encrusted in exterior mosaics and a myriad of Gothic spires. Signorelli's Renaissance fresco cycle of the Last Judgement, inside the Duomo, inspired Michelangelo's work for the Sistine Chapel. After a stop at a typical Trattoria we will visit St. Patryk's Well, completed in 1537. It is 53 meters (about 175 ft.) deep and, in the interior, two double-spiralled stairwells were made, planned for easier transportation of water.
