The history of Verona is very interesting and goes from the Roman age to 1263 when the Scaligeri family began their 124-year rule and finally fell to the Visconti Family Dukes of Milan.

Verona is also Italy's first province for certified DOC wines and host to VinItaly, the country's major wine fair and one of the most important of the world. The leading wines are Soave, Bardolino, Valpolicella, Amarone. Other vineyards propagate in Merlot and Cabernet, and white Pinots and Chardonnay.
