When you hear about Tuscany you probably think of Florence but also of its countryside, its wines and its medieval walled towns. Tuscany escape is a comfortable shared tour made for small groups, that will take you outside the ancient walls of Florence to discover Tuscany.

After meeting your driver-guide in Florence city center you will move with a luxury minivan that can accommodate up to 8 people. The vehicle is equipped with all comforts including water, air conditioning and free wifi.

The first stop will be to visit Siena, the famous city, which during the Middle Ages and up to the sixteenth century rivaled Florence in terms of wealth, power and beauty.

You will meet your Official Guide of Siena who will introduce you to its history and will guide you to discover its architecture made up of medieval streets between red terracotta brick buildings and elegant palaces with light travertine facades. Siena will amaze you for history that you will breathe, the poetry that hovers and its tranquility. You will see the splendid Cathedral and the famous Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful squares in Italy where the ancient Palazzo Pubblico overlooks the cafes and restaurants. The square was used for the market but since 1200, twice a year, is the perfect location for a horse race, that looks more like a a tough battle. 12 jockeys belonging to each one of the “contrade”, the districts of Siena, compete barebak in three laps of the square, in a very narrow path and with difficult curves, while the crowd cheers. The visit to Siena will end by tasting the traditional Sienese sweets made with almonds, hazelnuts, honey and spices.

Soon after, your local driver expert in Tuscan traditions and culture will guide you to the heart of the Tuscan countryside among the hilly vineyards and the olive groves, in the production area of ​​Chianti Classico, the most famous of Tuscan wines. You will visit an excellent quality winery where the owner and producer will introduce you to the millenary tradition of Tuscany wine production, he will show you his property, just before offering you a nice light lunch prepared with cold cuts and Tuscan pecorino cheese, Bruschette and Crostini and a nice dish of traditional pasta. Everything will be accompanied by the tasting of 4 wines that include Chianti Classico in different versions, a Supertuscan and a Vinsanto, the traditional sweet wine with cantuccini to finish.

Finally you will be accompanied to visit the third wonder of the day: the town of San Gimignano, which is part of the UNESCO heritage, famous all over the world for its medieval stone towers, which were once the residences of cloth, wine and of oil merchants, whose production San Gimignano still boasts. You will be free to walk through its streets and find the famous Gelataio, a local handicraft leather shop or some art galleries as well as visiting the millenary church. The more intrigued ones can climb the Torre Grossa, the highest tower, that often hosts exhibitions and from the top of which you can admire, at 360 degrees, the lush countryside that surrounds the ancient city walls.

The tour will end where it started in the center of Florence after approximately 9 hours.

IMPORTANT We inform you that for the safety of everyone it is not allowed to consume drinks and food inside the vehicle while traveling. It is possible to consume water and take any food or drink with you to be consumed during the tour outside the vehicle. Please make sure that the food is carefully stored so as not to disturb the other members of the group or to damage the vehicle.

 

IMPORTANT The activity level is very easy: limited walking ad a few stairs, however due to uneven surfaces and stairs to access the cellars, we regret to inform that the tour is not suitable for people with wheelchair or with impaired mobility. (We are able to provide a quote for a private tour).

 

IMPORTANT Please check carefully the meeting point directions in advance and ask us any information you need the day before. We cannot hold the tour for late arrivals. We highly recommend to arrive a few minutes earlier than check-in time to enjoy the tour from the beginning and to help in maintaining the good mood of the group.

 

The tour ends at the same place of departure, normally around 4 pm even if the exact return time depends on traffic, so in case you need to reserve other activities we highly recommend to allow plenty of time.

 

COLLABORATION

 We will ask you to cooperate and follow the rules that the driver will show you. In particular it is made obligation to wear the mask during the travels, that it should cover mouth and nose, to observe the disposition that is assigned to you in car, to sanitize the hands before entering on the vehicle.
